Schildts & Söderströms has been publishing books since 1891. Today we are the biggest publisher of Finland-Swedish literature and educational literature in Swedish in Finland. We publish 40 new titles annually in a wide range of genres from books for children and juveniles to poetry, novels, short stories and non-fiction. In every genre we cherish strong stories: not only what is told, but how the story is told. Each book on our list is carefully chosen. It’s important for us to publish well-written and beautifully designed books.

Our titles have been awarded with Finland’s and Swedens biggest literary prizes, e.g. the August Prize for Children & Young Adult Books for Vi ska ju bara cykla förbi (Let’s Just Ride Past) by Ellen Strömberg in 2022, the Finlandia Junior Prize in 2022 for Giraffens hjärta är ovanligt stort (A Giraffe’s Heart is Unbelievably Large) by Sofia and Amanda Chanfreau, and in 2017 for Nyckelknipan (The Lost Key) by Sanna Mander.
The Runeberg Junior prize in 2017 for Den fantastiske Alfredo (The Fantastic Alfredo) by Malin Klingenberg and Joanna Vikström Eklöv, in 2018 for Pärlfiskaren (The Pearl Fisher) by Karin Erlandsson, in 2019 Hallonbacken (Raspberry Hill) by Eva Frantz and in 2021 for Nattexpressen (Night Express) by Karin Erlandsson.
The Runeberg Prize in 2017 to Peter Sandström for the novel Laudatur.

We also publish books in Finnish under the imprint Kustantamo S&S.
